So, I mentioned earlier that I am hosting my first holiday at our new home.  Thanksgiving is just around the corner and there’s so much to do!  We realized all the little things that need to get done before my family comes in a couple weeks!  Here’s a conversation we recently had about our dueling priorities:

Me:  We don’t have enough silverware for a whole weekend of my delious cooking.

Him(seriously):  I can stop by Giant Eagle and get some plasticware.

Me:(horrified gasp)

Him: …or we can go look for more silverware.

Me:….and a gravy boat and a wine decanter.

Him:  Ok, remember I need to insulate the pipes in the basement.

Me:  How much is that going to cost?

Him:  Not as much as new silverware and a wine thingy and a gravyboat AND the other 14 things you will decide you NEED to throw the perfect Thanksgiving.  You don’t want your family to be COLD, do you?

Me:  No, but if we have enough to eat using the new silverware and drink enough of the decanted wine, we won’t even notice.

Yes, I know that the pipes should win out…I’m just hoping to find a REALLY good silverware sale so we’re both happy.
