When Did You Fall in Love?

Posted by Heather on May 8th, 2009

Mr. Diva and I had were sitting on our back porch last evening recapping our ever-eventful day when our conversation took a turn toward the past.  Mr. Diva asked me a question I can’t believe neither of us ever asked before - “When did you know you were in love with me?”  I recall when he first told me he loved me.  I remember knowing it was coming before I had wanted to say it all day too.  I knew when I’d keep him around for more than a few dates.  He willingly went into the garage with my dad to help him finish a tabletop.  I can easily tell you when I told him I wanted to be married to him.  So I had to put some thought around when I knew I loved him.

Take me back 10 years, I knew I loved him but I didn’t know why; I just did.  Today I can tell you that I knew I loved him when I didn’t just think of the fun we had together but when I thought of just his smile and his voice.  When the thought of his touch on my arm gave me chills even when we were hundreds of miles apart.  When I worried not about what he was doing but how he was doing instead.

Can you pinpoint when you fell in love with you spouse?  Is there a moment in your head you can recall or just a feeling?

Hi Heather,
I read your article and wanted to add:
My partner and I fell in love some 7 years ago and may I say, still are.
We had taken a short break to a lovely place called “Dornie Kyle of Lochalsh” in Scotland.
Whilst out socializing with friends at a local village dance. Everything just seemed to come together for me; I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this man. The sound of Gary’s voice, his touch, the way we communicated just made me fell so loved, wanted and cared for like never before that I just said quite loudly over the sound of the music “I’m in Love with you”.
Gary later told me he was feeling the same but had been reluctant to tell me in case I made a run for the hills, so to speak.
We remember it like it was yesterday…
Thank you for allowing me to share this beautiful moment with you and your readers.
Love does make the world go round.
Regards
Dawn Pugh
