Married By a Child Molester
A couple in California had a small, intimate ceremony performed by a reverend they found at Kern County clerk’s office. Sounds perfectly lovely until they found out the person was a convicted child molester. More concerning, the couple’s 6 year old daughter was part of the joyous event.
So now the couple has pictures with this person and their license is signed by, let’s face it, a monster. I know that if it was me, I would feel like I was shafted a bit in the ceremony department.
The couple could have just as easily had a justice of the peace marry them, but they chose a man of the cloth. I think if it was me, I would have another ceremony performed. A marriage is a happy event and you want to start out with a happy memory; not with a pile of pictures with a person who should still be rotting in a jail cell somewhere and shame on the county that supplies this man’s contact information to the unwitting public. If a church wants to hire him, that’s their (misguided and irresponsible) choice, but the city shouldn’t be putting their people in harm’s way.
