I’m blessed to have the best manager I’ve ever had the pleasure of working for.  She compliments good work, coaches for improvement, helps where she can and backs up her employees.  It’s amazing how far a simple compliment can take you.  I know I’m talking about boss, but the same rings true in a marriage.  When was the last time you gave you spouse a compliment?

Here’s an activity you can do together to share what you love most about your spouse.  Grab a few 3 X 5 cards and some pens, because here we go!

Label two cards with each of following:

• Who You Are to Me
• What You Do
• When I Need You
• Why I Love You
• How You Excite Me

Give one of each to your spouse and start writing.  This the time you can compliment your spouse on a variety of topics.  Here are some examples:

• Who You Are to Me:  You’re the man who cleans out the drain because you know it makes me gag.
• What You Do:  I just love when you smile at my silly sense of humor.
• When I Need You:  When I’m feeling overwhelmed with the world, you calm me down.
• Why I Love You:  I love you because you kiss me in the morning on my way out the door - everyday, without fail.
• How You Excite Me: Those jeans…Good Lord, I love you in those jeans.

You can do more than one statement pure card if you want, but share one card a night before bed or in the morning.  I suggest the cards, because they will fit in your purse, briefcase or laptop bag so you can carry your spouses thoughts with you all the time!
