Yes Honey, I’ll Pick Up Some Vagisil on the Way Home

Posted by Heather on February 2nd, 2009

Gross title, I know but this is the kind of conversation one does not want to hear at work.  I’m not speaking from experience at my current place of employment, but I remember hearing some doozies back in my consulting days.  Women on the phone with their husbands and topic ranged from feminine hygiene requests or assaults on their spouse’s manhood during some less than appropriate phone conversations.

Seriously.  You are on the phone, not living in a vaccuum.  Of course these conversations extended beyond husband/wife, but it seems that people talk to their spouse A LOT during the day.  Mr. Diva and I, not so much.  We email a couple times a day with the typical “How’s it going?”, “I love you” and “Do you need anything from the store”, but talking on the phone isn’t really our thing during work hours.

A friend of mine has a co-worker who is going through a divorce.  Today she gave me a blow by blow that she heard.  The conversation was so wrong (and juicy).  She and the soon to be ex were really going at it something fierce.  Ooooo, I wish my coworkers showed so little discreti!on  It would make dull days more exciting!

So here’s my question?  Do you treat the office like your own private space and carry on conversations throughout the day with your spouse or do you try to keep such phone calls to a minimum?
