How Long Can You Go Without Missing Your Spouse?

Posted by Heather on December 29th, 2008

I recently went away for a birthday weekend leaving Mr. Diva at home to fend for himself.  To be honest we love spending time together, but I was looking forward to the time with friends (and gambling).

When I got home, I asked what he did and he filled me in.  Being that it was Christmas time, he had shopping to do so that took up Saturday and he was ready to get home.  He read, watched sci-fi stuff, did some stuff around the house and entertained his brother and his wife as they were passing through.  Overall he said it was a very relaxing weekend but of course he missed me.

I know he was thrilled to see me, but I had a slight twinge of jealously that I wouldn’t have a weekend at home alone for a long while (Cleveland winter will keep us close to home, I’m guessing).  I wouldn’t trade my time with my husband for anything, but there’s something cathartic about having the house to myself for an extended period of time.

How do you feel about time alone?  I’m not talking about a couple hours on a Saturday, but a weekend or longer.  Do you like it for a day, one evening or could you go a week or better without missing your spouse?
