Are YOU in the 20 Percent?

Posted by Heather on December 7th, 2008

According to the US National Health and Social Life Survey in conducted in 1994 2% of all married couples have not had sex in the last year. The definition of of sexless marriage has often been defined as couple who engage in sexual intercourse less than 10 times a year.  Following this definition, it is estimated that nearly 20% of US couple are in this sad state.

I can account for some of these people - super elderly, those with disabilities that prevent them from having sex but I seriously doubt that accounts for for all 20%!  What’s going on, people? I know, I know - jobs, kids, friends, house, family, life - yes it’s all important but you need to make time for each other.  Sex is not only fun for couples, but it keeps you connected with your spouse in a special way.

If you can’t remember the last time you made love with your spouse, it’s been too long.   Too many years of jokes about how the best birth control is marriage.  Let’s all do our best to make this statistic MUCH lower in the near future.

AWWWWW!!! SO SAD!

I mean sex isn’t everything…but a whole YEAR?? Darn it. We gotta spice things up. We can’t let all work and no play is make our marriages sexless. This must change!

In the law, that is a basis for a divorce. It’s called constructive abandonment.
