It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
From the moment the Thanksgiving turkey is tucked away in the fridge, I am ready to decorate for Christmas. I am NOT a knick-knack person. I like things pretty sparse 11 months out of the year, but December is a whole other story. Christmas pukes all over my home.
This year we’re in a new place, but the traditions will remain the same. Mr. Diva pulls up my dozen boxes of Christmas crap without a peep and then we open each box like it’s the first time we’ve even seen the Hallmark singing snowmen (and yes, I have ALL the singing snowmen). The best part, however, is looking at the Christmas cards we’ve given to one another every year. Next we look at the star he made for me for the first Christmas we had together because we couldn’t afford to buy one (sniff - it still makes me teary-eyed). We are sticklers for our traditions. We always celebrate our Christmas after we see extended family. We always get Japanese or Thai food. We always make it something special.
Now that the holidays are upon us, what traditions as husband and wife do you have? Even though you may have children or extended family traditions, do you take time to have special tradition with your spouse during the winter holidays?
If you don’t - here are a few easy to impliment spousal traditions you may want to try:
- Save one small gift that you open in private. Maybe a certificate for a backrub, perfume, a frame picture of the two of you together from the last year.
- Buy an ornament for each other every year. Maybe you get one another an ornament that has to do with love. Someday you’ll have enough to decorate a whole tree!
- When you’re alone, enjoy the lights of the tree together.
