Chick Flicks Men Might Actually Enjoy*
Ok guys - dreading another weekend of movies with petticoats and bad English accents? Have I got a list for you. Last week, I suggested 4 man movies that women can enjoy with their husbands and now it’s your turn. Chick flicks that will not make you want to poke your eyes out with a Carrie Bradshaw stiletto.
Gone with the Wind: It’s a love story, it’s a civil war story. There’s no going wrong with this gem. It’s a bit on the long side but think of it as less time you have to clean out the gutters and more time to cuddle on the couch with your wife.
Drop Dead Gorgeous: I have to say that my husband hated this movie (probably because I talked it up so much), but I’ve talked to other guys that thought it was super funny. The story of small town beauty pageant contestants who are mysteriously dying or getting injured in bizarre ways. Plus it has a young Denise Richards. She’s hot, right? And believe it or not she’s pretty funny in this flick.
50 First Dates: This is the girliest chick flick of the bunch, but it’s one of my husbands favorite movies and it makes me cry every time I watch it. Sean Astin is hysterical as Drew Barrymore’s brother too.
What Dreams May Come: Ladies, beware - tears aplenty in this drama starring Robin Williams about a man whose children die, then he dies leaving his wife to kill herself. While he is in a paradise unlike you’ve never seen on film, his wife is sent to hell. Williams’ character goes on a journey to save her from the underworld so he can spend eternity with her. It’s a beautifully filmed movie and beautiful story to boot.
*All films have been man-approved.
