The wedding season is just about upon us and let me tell you, I’m going to be spending more than my share of weekend’s this spring and summer doing the funky chicken. Between the outfits I’ll need to purchase, the gifts, the travel…not cool. But we got another wedding invitation in the mail yesterday and let me tell you, if the invitation is any indication we will NOT have to stop at McDonald’s on the way home because we shall eat like Kings and Queens at the reception.
I don’t know the bride very well, but it’s obvious she has taste. Class is back, people! I went looking for the invitation online because I didn’t want to post the couple’s information but I also didn’t want to block it out either because the lettering was fitting. I couldn’t find the exact one, but i found this invitation and it’s very close. The only difference is the one we received had flowers on the left hand corner as well.
I love how current wedding invitations look like fabric I would have as curtains or throw pillows (I’m a major fabric hound). Invitations used to look so feminine, mine included, but now they’re very gender neutral.
I think of all the marriages I will witness in the coming months and I remember the excitement I felt in the months leading up to my wedding. It was so much fun! My hope for all these couples is that they are going into marriage with the understanding that the wedding is just the beginning. The work doesn’t end when you drive off to your honeymoon suite; it’s only just beginning. I also hope they understand and know that it only gets better with time, laughter and a little effort.
