Your Cheatin’ Heart Part 2 - Why Do Women Cheat?
Last week in my post called Your Cheating Heart – Part 1 , I talked the generics of cheating. This week I want to explore reasons why men and women cheat. Just like everything else in our lives, men and women do things for different reasons. Today I’ll tackle why women cheat.
After reading poorly written article after poorly written article and running into countless eBook teasers telling me that for only $19.95 I too could learn how to keep my wife faithful and happy, I think I was able to sort through the crap to get to the heart of the matter. Here are the top reasons I think wives cheat on their husbands (in no particular order):
- Women feel like their husbands don’t pay enough attention to them.
- Women feel their husbands spend too much time away from home either for work or play.
- Wives think their husband don’t offer enough emotional support.
Notice these reasons don’t really involve sex, but intimacy. There are women who cheat just for sex, but I don’t believe that’s the reason a majority of wives cheat. Women crave that connection with their spouse.
So husbands, when was the last time you grabbed your wife, spun her around and planted a deep, passionate kiss onto her lips? What about volunteering some information about your day? Instead of golfing 18 hours on Sunday, how about you cut it down to 9 and bring home dinner to give her the night off? Here are some other small gestures you might want to try:
- Tell her she looks nice, without prompting from her.
- Tell her she smells nice.
- Ask her how her day was.
- Remember last week when she told you about some big to-do at work? Ask her if it was resolved.
- Offer up information without being prompted.
Guys, it’s going to take a little effort to remember and recall little things. Maybe these things seem really silly and pointless to you, but to a woman it shows you notice and want to share. Trust me- you’ll reap the benefits.
Ladies, we’re not off the hook here either. Husbands operate differently. If there’s a man at work who’s been flirting up a storm and working his way to the next level, don’t you owe it to you marriage to avoid that situation? One sure-fire way to get your husband to pay more attention is to TELL him. Don’t wait until there’s a fight brewing, simply let him know how much you love him and wish you could spend more free time together. Let him know that you need to talk more. I like to think that most husbands would appreciate the honesty and see that if they give a little you might be a little more likely to give them what they want, if you know what I mean.
To keep an affair away, it takes commitment to the marriage from both parties. Later this week, I’ll explore why men cheat and how maintain the health of the marriage before it’s broke.
