Blogging and The Married Woman

Posted by Heather on November 22nd, 2007

That was my thinly veiled homage (pronounced with an OH, not an H) to Sex and the City.

I don’t expect my husband read my all my blogs, I usually tell him about them. I’ve read that some writers are hurt when their spouses don’t read their stuff, but my husband is busy at work and not really dying to spend more time on the computer when he gets home. Which I find crazy because I’m looking forward to the day when my head is just one big computer. I fill him in on what I’m writing, get his input and if there’s something I REALLY want him to read, he will. I don’t ask to see his latest widget drawing or go into great detail about ball-bearing measuring doodad (snore), why should he want to see my work?

I also run a small business out of our home and I fill him on the comings and goings but I don’t go into the nitty gritty details. As much as I love writing and researching for this blog and other assignments I take on, it’s still a job. So be it - a GREAT, FUN job but it’s job.

How much attention do you pay to your spouses job? Do you ask a lot of questions or does it stay at the door when they come home?

I love hearing the gossip and drama at my husband’s office. THat’s the only thing I miss from the 9-5!

Oh me too - my best friend still works at my old place of employment so I get all the dirt without any of the bull!

I don’t have to ask too many questions. My husband is very talkative, and unlike most guys who need a few minutes to unwind after work, he starts talking about his day from the moment he steps foot in the door. I know just about everything that goes on throughout his day - unhappy clients, office drama, what he had for lunch, etc.

We both work at home - and together on some of our projects none the less…. so we both seem to know what is going on with eachother most of the time. Sometimes, it is almost too much. Where is the mystery?
